Kerala's
wayanad district is the perfect setting for Tourism and Ayurvedic

Being traditionally more or less isolated from rest of Kerala,

is about 700 to 2100 meters above sea level and area about
2132 SqKm. Kalpetta is the distrct head quarters and Sulthan's
Bathery and Mananthavady are the towns. The District enjoys
uniformly pleasant climate through out the year and rather
chilly climate period between December and February. Tea,
Coffee, Pepper, Cardamom, Tappiocca, Bananna, Ginger, Turmeric,
cinnamon are the main crops. Selected Ayurvedic treatment

other parts of Kerala and the neighboring states of Karnataka

With 26%
forest cover, far greater than any other district in Kerala,
Wayanad is home to two major wild life sanctuaries; Muthanga
and Tholpetty. Taken together these two sanctuaries are home
to an incredible range of flora and fauna, including several
itegrated species. As part of western ghats they constitute
and important swathe of the last surviving tracts of a unique
echo system. For wild life enthusiastic and nature lovers,
Wayanad wild life Sanctuaries must visit destination.

Wayanad
Wildlife Sanctuary, Muthanga

Spread
over a vast area, Muthanga is part of the Nilagiri Biosphere
region located 18 KM east of Sulthan's Bathery. It is a reserve
rain forest connected to two major sanctuaries; Bandipur National
Park, Karnataka and Muthumala Sanctuary in Tamilnadu. The vegitation
is predominantly moist deciduous forest with smaller stretches
of swamps, teak forest, Bamboo and tall grass. Amidst such fertile
and varied flora, this region hosts several rare herbs and medicinal
plants. Muthanga has been declared a Project Elephant site.
Other animal species include Leopards, Gaur, Sambar, Cheetal,
Barking Deer, Hanuman Langur, Slender Loris . The reserve is
also home to a small population Tigers, Profusion of Birds,
Butterflies, and Insects |

Life Sanctuary, Tholpetti

along the northern ridge of wayanad, Tholpetti is much similar
to Muthanga in terms of flora and fauna. Located about 25 KM
from Mananthavady. |
